Sony announced the PSP's successor gadget, known by the codename NGP (Next Generation Portable). According to the plan, NGP will be released in late 2011, and Sony has already announced some of the features and specifications of the NGP (some of these features I have discussed in previous posts) as well as official photographs of NGP.

- OLED touch-screen-sized 5-inch multi-touch capabilities
- Touch-pad with multi-touch capabilities that are in the back of the NGP
- Dual analog sticks with the ability DualShock
- Front and rear camera
- Game will be packaged in the form of mini-sized flash cart (no longer a UMD)
- Three motion sensors, gyroscope, accelerometer, and electronic compass
- Connectivity Wi-Fi and 3G
- Access to PlayStation Network, including LiveArea, and features "Near" and "Activity" that supports Trophy
- NGP can play PSP games, minis, classic PS one games, videos, and comics have been downloaded / purchased from PlayStation Store
